Not so popular music
This article touches upon a couple things I've been thinking about regarding the gradual decline of popular music in mainstream culture. I had attributed my own waning interest to old fogeydom and nostalgic attachment to outdated forms of technology (the album and cd), but maybe it runs deeper than that. I think it would be a shame if this were to become a permanent condition.

Interesting article. I suppose popular music will always have it's
niche in your heart,ya old fogey. Nice to see that at least you are able to integrate. Your gigantic collection of CDs will stand forever as a monument to pop, pop music. Same goes for your records in Howell. Good for added insulation too. Remember in the old days when money was scarce and you could burn furniture for heat? Now you can burn CDs! Bad one?

Have you seen this?

Huh. I don't think that link is showing up right for some reason. You'll have to piece it together:

Thanks for that link, Chris. I'm beginning to think that it won't be long before record/cd collecting will become a new form of antiquing.

My sons will be 18 next month. One is hardcore into video games and the other is into music. We have XM so he gets to hear everything. He's a big concert goer too. Just the other day he said, "I don't have a job and can't afford to buy CDs." He's starting a job next week so he'll need a new excuse. Among his bootlegs, there's the new Regina Spektor CD, which I listen to and like a lot. I might even buy one of her old CDs so this illegal download might result in a future sale. I'm guilty of having watched a bootleg episode of SCRUBS on quicksilverscreen.com last night with no commercials.
Collecting vinyl is already a fad with a few of my artsy aquaintances in Williamburg/Jersey City.
I think its hilarious to listen to them swoon over a Pretenders album.
We found an old record player (circa 78)needs a needle which we are at a loss to find. Bernie must have 700 albums in our basement.
Its a darn shame I tell ya.
