Self-examination

Observed while flipping channels between innings during last night's Mets game: "Why am I watching these assholes in sunglasses running around again?" Answer: "No idea." The best explanation I could come up with is that my tendency to flip to A & E is sort of a reflex now from my unhealthy interest in "The First 48" and "Intervention."

They're like a circus act, Mike. We just can't look away. The super-mullet and stud-encrusted variety of Texas Ranger Walker, must be so shocking in real life, that his sudden and larger than life presence in anyone's home would render most criminals powerless to escape. I think Dog owes a great deal of his success to his slap-master knockout wife. Don't you? I just imagine the lingering scent of Brut and sweat the cab of their SUV.

I used to be a big fan of 'Flip this House', until A&E decided to recast. I'm sure they felt it would be an improvement but it's just not as real life as the Season One bunch of guys. "The Real Deal" is now over at TLC.

Real life drama is so much more fascinating... in other people's lives.

Intervention is like smoking crack.
Once you're turned on -- there's no turning back.

My secret TV passions are "Project Runway" (fierce!) and Kathy Griffin: "My Life on the D List."
